PARSEC project

Parcel and Letter Security for Postal and Express Courier Flows – the PARSEC project. The project aims to develop a comprehensive detection architecture that builds on the four innovation areas:

  • Combined data science for next-generation risk assessment;
  • Multi-energy photon counting detector for quick and accurate first line inspection;
  • X-ray diffraction screening solution for enhanced second line inspection;
  • Neutron-induced gamma-ray spectroscopy for improved third line inspection.

The project seeks to test the concept of “system of systems” that combines the data-driven risk assessment with the three stages of non-intrusive inspection technologies, namely the: multi-energy photon counting detector, X-ray diffraction screening, and neutron induced gamma-ray spectroscopy.

VTS role: Support the development of a parcel flow modeling tool that models the behavior of a system of systems concept, collect data, perform data analysis, conduct simulations, and develop e-learning materials.
